Canadian Finishing and Coatings Manufacturing

March 23rd, 2022

CFCM IFF AC Show 400IFF’s Industrial Solutions will showcase their portfolio of renewable polymers at the American Coatings Show (ACS) for the first time on April 5-7. At booth 1054, attendees can collaborate with IFF on customized, environmentally-friendly solutions to address their coating and printing ink formulation and manufacturing challenges.

At booth 1054, attendees can collaborate with IFF on customized, environmentally-friendly solutions to address their coating and printing ink formulation and manufacturing challenges. The solutions include how to potentially improve coating functionality, increase savings and improve worker safety – while supporting sustainable and bio-based paint trends.

On April 5 and 6, 12.20 p.m. ET, attendees can hear from Hui Yang, principle investigator and Jason Folkenroth, research scientist, present on Lattice NTC at the Product Presentation section of the show. Both speakers from IFF will share deeper insights into formulating bio-based paint formulations, while ensuring optimal formulation stability.

Formulation and product experts will be at booth 1054 to share more about IFF’s specialized polymer portfolio, which features natural, renewable stabilizers and suspending agents, including:

Lattice NTC Colloidal Microcrystalline cellulose which improves poorly stabilized formulations with limited impact on viscosity and enables bio-based paint formulations and non-toxic, odorless coating formulations with long shelf stability.

WALSRODER Nitrocellulose for wood coatings, varnishes and printing inks that potentially improves worker safety and increases savings via higher output and efficiency.

ETHOCEL Ethylcellulose, a thickener and binder for solvent-based paints, wood coatings and printing inks, which enables predictable performance.

TEXTURECEL Carboxymethylcellulose, a thickener and binder in water-based paints.

METHOCEL Cellulose Ethers, a key formulation component in paint removers.

“Our passion to help design and optimize sustainable formulations, backed by our polymer expertise and commitment to quality, has driven us to provide novel and greener alternatives to customers across a variety of industries,” said Christophe Massip, global marketing director, Industrials, IFF.

“We’re excited to showcase our exceptionally-performing polymers and expertise in coatings at ACS for the first time, to continue equipping customers with the solutions they need, so they can confidently do what they do best,” he added.

Feature Video: DeVilbiss TEKNA Gun Flexes on Muscle Car Show

CFCM TeknaGun 400

Carlisle Fluid Technologies’ DeVilbiss TEKNA spray gun was recently featured on an episode of Detroit Muscle on Power Nation TV to bring a 1973 AMC Javelin back to life. Featuring a high finish quality and operator ergonomics, The TEKNA gun’s high transfer efficiency provides materials savings for solvent or waterbase paints.

The spray gun technology, which has been used in automotive refinishing processes for many years, is designed to spray all types of materials and comes with high efficiency or HVLP air caps that produce large spray patterns with even material distribution.

New Bacharach Sling Psychrometer

CFCM slingpsychrometer 400Paul N. Gardner USA, global distributors, producers, and designers of quality physical and inspection instruments for the paint, coatings, and related industries, has introduced a new offering: The compact, portable Sling Psychrometer.

As an easy way to measure relative humidity levels quickly, this uniquely compact Bacharach Sling Psychrometer accurately determines per cent relative humidity without the necessity of consulting complex tables. There is no need to wet the wick each time a reading is taken, and it contains a slide rule calculator which correlates wet and dry bulb thermometer indications for direct reading of relative humidity. When not in use, the thermometer case telescopes into the handle for protection.

The Sling Psychrometer consists of two thermometers that are turned by vigorously swinging the handle and exposing the thermometers to rapid air movement. These two thermometers are called dry bulb and wet bulb. The bulb of one thermometer is placed in direct contact with the room air to measure dry-bulb air temperature. The bulb of the other thermometer is covered with a silk or muslin sleeve that is kept moist to record the wet bulb temperature. Evaporation cools the wet bulb more than the dry bulb, and the humidity is obtained as a function of change in temperature. The atmospheric humidity is determined by calculations, steam tables, or using a psychrometric chart. Gardco.com
