North American RectifiersKitchener, Ont.-based, Polyfab Industrial Services Inc and XL Fabrication Inc, and Chatham-Ont.-based North American Rectifiers Inc. (NAR) have been acquired by the Zynik manufacturing group and will be organized under the RPS industrial group. Management teams and labour force will remain in place, and all three companies will continue to operate separately.
Jeff Fraser, president and CEO of RPS Composites, expressed his enthusiasm for the value these companies will bring to the industrial group. “We’re very pleased by these acquisitions. Although each company brings its own industrial materials expertise, together they offer a synergy that positions them far ahead of others providing similar products.”
With a focus on the general metal finishing industry the companies design, fabricate, and install thermoplastic and metallic tanks, and the rectifiers that power the finishing lines.
“I am very proud of what Polyfab has achieved over the past 20 years and am so excited to see what the next 20 years will bring for Polyfab under the RPS umbrella,” said Jason Schiebel is the president of Polyfab Industrial. “I believe that being part of this comprehensive and experienced team will only strengthen and reinforce our position in the marketplace.”
The companies also serve the automotive, aerospace, chemical processing, food and beverage, and water treatment industries, with customers throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico. Well-developed relationships and supplier agreements with other businesses that provide finishing line components brings extra value to customers.
I’m excited for what’s coming, and the potential for growth,” said Bob Davison, director of XL Industries.
And Kevin Hewett, director of North American Rectifiers, agrees. “I’m feeling very good about partnering with the Zynik Group and growing NAR to the next level.”

CFCM slingpsychrometer 400Paul N. Gardner USA, global distributors, producers, and designers of quality physical and inspection instruments for the paint, coatings, and related industries, has introduced a new offering: The compact, portable Sling Psychrometer.

As an easy way to measure relative humidity levels quickly, this uniquely compact Bacharach Sling Psychrometer accurately determines per cent relative humidity without the necessity of consulting complex tables. There is no need to wet the wick each time a reading is taken, and it contains a slide rule calculator which correlates wet and dry bulb thermometer indications for direct reading of relative humidity. When not in use, the thermometer case telescopes into the handle for protection.

The Sling Psychrometer consists of two thermometers that are turned by vigorously swinging the handle and exposing the thermometers to rapid air movement. These two thermometers are called dry bulb and wet bulb. The bulb of one thermometer is placed in direct contact with the room air to measure dry-bulb air temperature. The bulb of the other thermometer is covered with a silk or muslin sleeve that is kept moist to record the wet bulb temperature. Evaporation cools the wet bulb more than the dry bulb, and the humidity is obtained as a function of change in temperature. The atmospheric humidity is determined by calculations, steam tables, or using a psychrometric chart. Gardco.com
