CFCM CCAI Jim Gallagher 400Each year, the Chemical Coaters Association International (CCAI) awards scholarship monies to deserving college students who are currently enrolled in programs that could lead to careers in the finishing industry. Winners are selected by the CCAI Finishing Education Foundation Board of Directors and this year, the top scholarship recipient will be awarded the newly created Jim Gallagher Scholarship, named in honor of a long-time CCAI member who passed away in November of 2021.

“Jim had a distinct passion for CCAI’s educational programs,” noted CCAI national president, Duane Fudge.

Gallagher served on the national board of directors and the Wisconsin chapter board of directors for many years. He participated on the Education Committee and co-authored and edited countless CCAI technical manuals. He was, Fudge added, well-known for his generosity and kindness both professionally and personally, making this named scholarship the most fitting sentiment for students pursuing a career in the finishing industry.

The Chemical Coaters Association International (CCAI) is a technical and professional organization that provides information and training on surface coating technologies. CCAI works to raise the standards of finishing operations through educational meetings and seminars, training manuals, educational videos, and outreach programs with schools, colleges and universities.

New Digital Solution Helps Customers Bring Colours to Life

AkzoNobel 3D colour visualization tool
AkzoNobel Powder Coatings has developed a new web application 3D colour visualization tool within its Interpon webshop to help customers better understand how a powder coating’s colour, texture and finish that look good in theory, will actually appear in reality.

The tool provides instant access to thousands of colours in the Interpon range. Using a 360-degree dynamic camera and simulated lighting, the customer is given a true-to-life image of how the colour performs to a degree of accuracy and realism not possible before in a virtual environment.

Rather than the image being ‘flat’, the customer can orientate the ‘virtual’ panel to see how the light reflects and the colour looks from different angles.
