AkzoNobel ResicoatAkzoNobel is celebrating 50 years with its Resicoat range.

The Resicoat range is used for electrical insulation and provides corrosion protection for pipelines, valves, fittings and rebar.

It was introduced in 1971, when Resicoat GmbH was founded by Robert Bosch GmbH and Akzo Coatings GmbH. Back then, it was initially produced only for electrical insulation purposes – still a cornerstone of the Resicoat portfolio.

Various developments followed – including the inauguration of a production site in Reutlingen, Germany. Then in 1992, Resicoat became part of Akzo Coatings GmbH, and has since established a global production footprint.

“We’re extremely proud to be marking Resicoat’s Golden Jubilee,” says Daniela Vlad, Director of AkzoNobel’s Powder Coatings business. “It’s a much respected brand which has continued to grow and evolve with the changing needs of our customers. Some things will always remain constant, however, such as Resicoat’s ability to perform in the most challenging of conditions.”

The Resicoat range means it can be used across a variety of industries, highlighted by two recent developments, the company says. In China, Resicoat R2 coatings are being supplied for the Pearl River Delta water resource allocation project. Resicoat products are also at the center of a dedicated portfolio of solutions that the company now offers to manufacturers of electric vehicles and components.

“Needs and environments will continue to change, and we’ll continue to change with them,” adds Vlad. “Resicoat has established a solid reputation over the last half a century, but now it’s all about looking forward, innovating with and for our customers and focusing on what the expectations are going to be during the next 50 years.”

As an easy way to measure relative humidity levels quickly, this uniquely compact Bacharach Sling Psychrometer accurately determines per cent relative humidity without the necessity of consulting complex tables. There is no need to wet the wick each time a reading is taken, and it contains a slide rule calculator which correlates wet and dry bulb thermometer indications for direct reading of relative humidity. When not in use, the thermometer case telescopes into the handle for protection.

The Sling Psychrometer consists of two thermometers that are turned by vigorously swinging the handle and exposing the thermometers to rapid air movement. These two thermometers are called dry bulb and wet bulb. The bulb of one thermometer is placed in direct contact with the room air to measure dry-bulb air temperature. The bulb of the other thermometer is covered with a silk or muslin sleeve that is kept moist to record the wet bulb temperature. Evaporation cools the wet bulb more than the dry bulb, and the humidity is obtained as a function of change in temperature. The atmospheric humidity is determined by calculations, steam tables, or using a psychrometric chart.
