Sherwin-Williams’ board of directors has named an executive with over 30 years of experience with the company to serve as its next chief executive officer. John G. Morikis, who has served as the Cleveland-based coating giant’s chief operating officer for the past nine years, will assume the CEO role on Jan. 1, 2016. Morikis will take over for current CEO Christopher M. Connor, who will become the company’s executive chairman. “This announcement today marks the successful culmination of a multi-year organizational succession plan to identify the absolute best candidate to assume leadership of the company,” said Connor.
