CPCA Katie MaljaeiAt a recent CPCA Board of Directors meeting, Governance Committee Chair Steve Veroba of Benjamin Moore, nominated Katie Maljaei of Brenntag Canada as a new board member. The nomination was unanimously accepted by the Board and effective immediately. She will be one of three board members representing the Supplier/Distributor Class. Veroba said, “Katie’s nomination will proceed to the full membership for confirmation at the next Annual General Meeting.”  The next AGM will be held at CPCA’s Annual Conference on May 24 & 25 at the Queen’s Landing Hotel in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Maljaei has a long history of working in the chemical industry with a Masters in Chemical Engineering from Vrije Universiteit Brussel, after a degree from Boston University. After moving to Canada in 1996, Maljaei started with SICO as a formulator in Montreal, now under the PPG suite of brands, and subsequently worked with what is now Protech Paint in Quebec. In 1998 she more permanently settled with Akzo Nobel in St. Jerome as the eventual Waterborne Coatings Group leader for nine years gaining experience in formulating, production, and customer trials. In 2006 she began working with St. Lawrence Chemical Distribution, later acquired by Brenntag Canada, and in 2018-2021 was the Senior Product Manager for Brenntag and is now the Canadian National Sales Manager.

Maljaei has a broad knowledge of the industry and is involved in a number of organizations such as the Order of Engineers of Quebec, Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers, and the International Society of Female Professionals. Speaking four languages means she has little trouble communicating widely.

“We are so pleased that Katie has agreed to join the CPCA board as her experience in the CASE industry in Canada will certainly be critical in helping with the Board’s work and overall strategic direction,” said Darrin Noble, president, and COO of Cloverdale Paint and CPCA Board Chair.
