John MacLean is retiring at the end of September from Northspec Chemicals Corp. He founded the company in 2001 with his partner Noel Shahnazarian, seeing it grow over the years into a major specialty chemicals distributor. His own background was in both laboratory work and sales, at Borden Chemicals, Tremco, Union Carbide and Canada Colours & Chemicals.  Shahzarian remains principal of Northspec, and Robert Jacksteit takes over as vice-president, sales and marketing. Joseph Loncar becomes vice-present, new technology platforms, with he and Jacksteit supporting much of MacLean’s previous customer and supplier duties as well. Internally, Jane Radke has been named director of finance, Ron Elfer will take over as operations manager, Tim Zheng has recently been added as supply chain manager, and Jenna Harris has been named logistics manager. In addition, Arpi Sookiassian will take over the regulatory role and handle Responsible Distribution, along with inside sales.  Maclean will also still be available on a contract basis after this period of transition.
